Lactoferrin is an iron-binding glycoprotein (sugar-protein) naturally present in milk: Lacto = milk, ferrin = iron. It is a member of the transferrin proteins which support the circulation of iron-rich blood throughout the body. Lactoferrin is a protein found in bodily secretions such as saliva, tears, milk and within nasal passages. These proteins can help treat gastrointestinal symptoms as well as provide immune support. The most common forms of lactoferrin come from milk.
